Chromebooks for Literacy and Math Learning Stations
My students need Chromebooks for the classroom. These computers will have engaging literacy and math programs for the kids such as Lexia, Zearn, Starfall, and more.
I teach an enthusiastic group of Kindergarten and 1st grade students. They are varied in their interests and learning styles, but what they have in common is a love of school.
My students thrive with diverse and engaging ways to learn.
We work in center groups on a daily basis, which means we are rotating through small group learning stations. Students get to work for 15-20 minutes in a station. They typically do reading, writing, phonics, science, art, and (hopefully) computers as part of their learning rotations.
My Project
Our classroom currently has no computer for students. I am asking for 5 Chromebooks to be used as a student center job for literacy, math, and science. I want to give the best education to my k/1 students and access to technology will enhance their educational opportunities. They are at varied levels of academics, but they are all working on foundational skills in literacy and math. One of the ways I differentiate their needs is in center rotation groups (or stations). Chromebooks would be used in small groups, guided by teachers, but also self-directed by students.
The students would benefit greatly from the educational, computer programs of Lexia, Zearn, Starfall, and the Next Generation Science curriculum.
These programs allow me to target the specific reading and math level of the child so that they are working and progressing according to their level. Some programs also have content information that is high interest, age appropriate, and matches current state standards. They would be able to work at their individual level in kid-appropriate programs that makes learning fun!
